Jesus Affirms His Deity

Brother Ken's Message on May 31, 2009.

Lk 6:1 One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and his disciples began to pick some heads of grain, rub them in their hands and eat the kernels.
Lk 6:2 Some of the Pharisees asked, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”
Lk 6:3 Jesus answered them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?
Lk 6:4 He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.”
Lk 6:5 Then Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
Lk 6:6 On another Sabbath he went into the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was shriveled.
Lk 6:7 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal on the Sabbath.
Lk 6:8 But Jesus knew what they were thinking and said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Get up and stand in front of everyone.” So he got up and stood there.
Lk 6:9 Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?”
Lk 6:10 He looked around at them all, and then said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did so, and his hand was completely restored.
Lk 6:11 But they were furious and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.

JESUS PROVES HE IS GOD!

The Message Brother Ken Wilson delivered on May 3.

MAIN SCRIPTURE: Luke 5:17-26

Lk 5:17 One day as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem, were sitting there. And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick.
Lk 5:18 Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus.
Lk 5:19 When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
Lk 5:20 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”
Lk 5:21 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
Lk 5:22 Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?
Lk 5:23 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’?
Lk 5:24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins. . . .” He said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.”
Lk 5:25 Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God.
Lk 5:26 Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.”
